Seed Ball Making
27th April, 2024 marked the Water Warrior’s yet another activity - seed ball making, under the guidance of the Environmentalist Foundation of India. The children hurried to the open picnic area, waiting to make their very own balls of different kinds - Dhalias, Morning Glory, Neem, Sarakondrai - you name it!
The session started with a quick quiz, testing the kids’ knowledge about the nutrition, the life cycles and the growth of various plants. They then prepared a mixture of red soil and manure, carefully molding them into small balls, while taking part in small competitions to see who could make the neatest ones! Once everyone’s mud balls were ready, in went the seeds, completing the seed balls that they would take home and nurture.
Having made 164 seed balls that day, many of which would be planted in their community, the children recapped their water conservation efforts through the Bingo cards. That day, it was not just the seeds of the plants that were sown, but also the seeds of environmental awareness that were planted in young minds!
