Water Warriors at NPS HSR
Psst! You there!
Did you know? Little Actions organised our largest workshop yet for the 6th graders of NPS HSR!
As soon as the first session started, the kids rushed in, curious and brimming with excitement. The room soon overflowed with enthusiasm as the kids wracked their brains over our riddles about water sources and pollutants. The next activity, a memory game, entailed 7 minutes to memorise methods of water conservation and 5 to write as many as they could remember. At the end of the session, the kids were given our special Water Bingo cards — they had to implement as many conservation methods on the card as possible and cross them out. The child that crossed out the most methods would win!
At our second session, we were met with an overwhelming crowd of 120 enthusiastic kids! We began with a lively discussion about the three R’s — the very core of conservation! We then moved on to tote bag making, where the kids used a handy pair of scissors and stationery to upcycle an old t-shirt into a brand new tote bag. During the activity, we could feel the gears turning in the little ones’ minds as they contemplated whether to turn the scrap cloth into a headband or a superman mask!
At last, with their special medals and a new understanding of environmental conservation, the children began putting these practices to action at home and in school. A total of 120 Little Action-ers have now been born, and are out to save the world, one drop at a time!
